At Home

We are often asked for advice about combining fabrics and colours. With this in mind Zoe has shared photographs of her lounge at home, with all fabrics and colours listed as well as lighting and furniture.

We would usually suggest choosing a hero design that might be your main focal point around which the scheme is set or that is the fabric you would use for the curtains or blinds. This might be a large scale or ornate fabric or perhaps just a simple stripe. Then select other fabrics to make up a scheme with either three or five fabrics combined which contrast is scale, level of pattern and colour.

However Zoe’s lounge room has very much evolved over the years and features quite a few more than the suggested three or five fabrics. This is largely because often items of furniture used in photoshoots are kept, creating quite an eclectic mix of prints in one room. With similar colour tones running through all of the fabrics they thread well together as a scheme.
